I've looked through the 2D sticky on this forum, but I need to ask a further question. And I'm sure this is incredibly silly of me to ask, but if I don't I'll never know.
Is it possible to create 2D animations based around work in Photoshop?
I've looked at flash and other programs, but they seem a little...cartoony, which is great, but thats not the style I'm looking for.
Thanks for your time
Karl

yes it is:)

you can use layers if u have them of your psd's using software's like AfterEffects and such(actually this is the way many anime's are manufactured in japan), and using it to animate some aspects of your layers or put the frames in a time line. Flash is used for the same kind of things, so you do not necessarily make the cartoons inside flash.

hope this helps!

Excellent, I have AE, but I was unsure of exactly how it worked in regards to animating PS.I hate to take further advantage of your time, but you don't know off hand of any texts, or website that would explain such a procedure.

huum...actually i don't know any tutorials for ae...the bit i know about it i self-learned.

one good source to discover how it might work is to download anime movies making off's (i remember NAruto Movie 1 making off showed people using AE to animate the layers of animation, or at least to put it in a sequence). But, theorically, u might want to do this:

-IF it is not so cartoony or vectorial like flash/coreldraw, you may want to do some old classical animation. in photoshop you make several images (frames of your animation) and save it as tga's or somethin(something with a transparent background), with sequencial names as 001, 002, 003 and so on. in aE, when u open the "open menu" check the "Sequencial" (dont remember the name of it) box, and open the 001 file(or 000 if it is the first). It should load it as an animation u can import into your workspace and work in the timeline. U can then animate it moving across the background using ae(in case of a man walking for example) and even import backgrounds or adding aditional layers.

This is perfect, exactly what I've been looking for. I can't thank you enough. I guess the rest is up to me, good luck and many thanks.
