Thanks for reading my mind and starting this thread, Cerreto ;)
And nice looking colors to start it off with!
I don’t have anything to add at the moment… Currently I am a just trying to emulate guys like you, Mike, etc.

I would really like to see how that menu setup you mentioned is coming along. The one in your screen grab looks very interesting and useful. Your use of 4 perspective views is something I am looking forward to trying.

Thanks!

something ive found useful is having difrent prefrences for myself for example i have a modeling prefrance where i edit my menu to have strictly modeling plugins and tools group them and put them in scrolling menus in the botom task bar i also make one for maping /morhing and texturing it keeps my interface clean and quick i use hot keys mostly and basicly only use about 5 tools when modeling but its nice when you need to look for them !

does anyone know how to change your view mode (Wireframe, Flat Shade, Texture, etc) via a keyboard short cut?

I'm just trying to minimize everything to Keyboard shorts in order to reduce my Tab and button clicking. :)

Also...thanks for the post Loganarts....i'm now Hotboxing it as they say in Maya. :D

hi, perhaps that's a stoopid question, and i did RTM chapter 5,
but is there a way to use the mouse menus without holding down ctrl+shift? (loganarts...you're the king of mouse menus...you GOTTA know!!)

I ask that because i just broke my left arm (3 cracks for the price of one fall...that's gonna be LOONG and BORING...:( ) and i cannot use the keyb + the mouse at the same time... i have a ms wireless intelliwhatever so i've got 2 more buttons on the side of the mouse, and i could set them to ctrl + shift, but i already used one for the Alt key and the other for the drag tool, so i'm out of buttons!!

MikeRB,
i saw your timelapse on the first part of your march contest character (awesome modelling! i dont like the blend between the body softness and the wheel medallion hardness, but i know you're working hard, at least I HOPE, coz I WANT updates!!! and...well...would you care to do another timelapse?:p i'm learning lots from your techniques...).
Anyway, i just wanted to ask what's the function of the MOUSE button on your bottom menu...(right now i'm VERY interested in everything concerning mouses...:D)

OT: moderators, why don't you put a new sticky thread that goes like "TIMELAPSES" and you pros show us how you model? i think it'd be a GREAT thing... It's not a tutorial, (ok, you learn a lot with tutorials too) it's just some "fresh air", new styles...
/OT

thx anyway...

Hi everyone,

i work for a long time with a reduced interface (in many programs). I think it´s very effectively.
But in LW-Modeler is a hitch for my personal workflow.

-- Without the toolbars on the left side (or right) the gridsize/data/coordinate system in the left bottom window (integrated i.t. toolbar) doesn´t appears.
But for a fast and simple visual check it´s helpful (in my opinion).

Have anybody a (improvement) suggestion to solve the problem ?

I wish a wonderful day.

I can't figure out which of the settings effects the "wireframe color" of the wireframe SHADE mode :)

cerreto

Mike RB

dies-irae: I don't think you can change the crtl-shift combo. But you may be able to setup some macro so that a single mouse button does both. That would probably be in your mouse configuration software and not LW.

And that mouse toggle at the bottom is for what center the operation will use, wether its selection center, mouse center, or origin center. It just dont like them in the modes dropdown as I cant see which is active.

I think the tutorial thread is good enough for both timelapse tutorials and html. :)

1-8-5: Dunno, ive never really paid much attention to that little info box

chlywly: you cant currently, any pics i post that look different are photoshoped to look how they do.

Very strange because normal lightwave colors the wireframe color is WHITE, when I changed it to YOUR darkish tone Furiouse, It changed to a dull grey! very hard to spot.

In cerretos beij color scheme its more of a yellow, I was trying to figure out what effects it hmm.

The colorpicker is useful, but only to a point. It helped me get started, but in the end I pretty much just used trial and error. And remember it doesnt give you a ToolButtonColor.

Be sure and post what you come up with :)

then add a new group to the right section and rename it to what you want. IF you dont like the oder they are in you can drag them around in the LW interface afterwards.

you need to reduce the file size to 50K or less. I use photoshop to reduce the overall pixel height and width and also reduce the quality of the jpeg compression.

It's stupid question time!! How do I go about implementing these color schemes? tried adding it to my cfg, but it didn't work. Now I feel like an idiot. Happy? :D

cerreto
03-30-2002, 03:04 PM

03-30-2002, 09:31 PM
i have a question now, why is it that every time i startup lw the colors go whacky? like i will set the config to the dark scheme then after i close it and open it again one set of colors will turn to the original colors. Why is that?

Fuzer
03-30-2002, 09:52 PM
Be sure that before you open, change, and save the config that you have exited both modeler and the hub.

This happened to me a couple of times and I think that may be why.
Let us know if that doesn't work.

also: be sure there are no extra spaces or typos.

you cannot find the cfg inside the lightwave directory tree because they aren't there.

they're kept on c:\documents and settings\username\ if you're using win2k and perhaps winxp (i don't remember i hated XP so much i hadn't the time to install lightwave before i was reformatting to put a nice slim fast and stable win2k...), on c:\windows if you're on win9x.

do a simple win+f and find lw*.cfg

The reason you can't find it on a Mac is because it's called "Lightwave Hub Prefs", and it can be found in your User:Library:Preferences folder. I would make a backup copy of the current file before you go mucking around with changing anything, just in case.

I think I may have posted this already, but here it is again just incase anyone cares...:p My personal favorite color scheme for LW:
