View Full Version : using dirtmap as background

i have a scene where the background i stylized simplified plants, and i've been told to used dirtmap instead of turning on FG and GI (mental ray) in the final render that will take ages to render considering the amount of polygon invovle. my question now is, when i put my character into scene (texture with lambert) and background(plants polygon) being dirtmap, the dirtmap doesnt seem to correspond with the lights. it also doesnt blend well with my character, with the FG and GI off.

i'm still not sure about dirtmap. is it a good idea to use it considering not everything in my production will use dirtmap. and how do you get it to respond to the lights?
