Long before Christ was born, a highly developed civilization existed right in the middle of Africa. The people of this civilization had a superior physique and a sophisticated government.
The society was perfect. They didn't know crime, they were resistant to diseases and their research centers were making good progress with the development of vehicles that could fly over the speed of light.
but why aren't they here anymore?
well, everything ended when evolution reached the next level. shortly before the genocide, each year a few were born with strange abilities. The people feared them and avoided them. One day, the Government decided that they had became too many and hence a threat. A war started between a whole civilization and 50 men, which ended with the ignition of a bomb that changed the structure of the worldmap.
During the war, it arose that even among those 50 one can stand out in the crowd.
And that's the guy you see above. He's so cold that noone has ever seen him showing any emotion at all.
If you notice any mistakes in my little story, please don't blame me. English's not my mother tongue after all.:D

nice one Sazem! maybe the composition would be better if you removed the large pile of snow on the far right side of the picture and the smaller one besides his head...
AyaXiac, very good, pretty fast also with that amount of detail!
Here's mine, inspired by Hugo Simberg (finnish symbolist painter from 19th century)

Meh ;) First time for me to participate in this. Hope this is acceptable. 45mins on the nose. Didn't want to quit but trying to follow the rules lol.
I may render this out further later. =) Not sure its good enough tho, I've been away from doing any sort of art for a few months now. Edit...made in photoshop
It's been really inspiring seeing all of your sketches day in day out. As part of my efforts to better myself I've decided to venture out of the beginner's lounge and participate when I can.
Here's my entry for "cold". PS, 45mins (well, + an extra 3).

Woo.. on a DSG roll tonight, two paintings in under 2 hours! This one was just over the 45 minute mark at about 50 minutes. Inspired by the bloomin' freezing weather we've had this weekend. I crave sunshine and warmth!

Birdybear: that is SO cute! If that had been an actual xmas card I'd have definitely bought it!
thek: nice start and nice idea for the topic, keep at it!
twitchyhamster: that image freaks me out, i have no idea why!
Malcon: like the way the left hand rock is looking, those little texture nicks and crannys make a real difference
Ivy: really nice idea, and well executed, good stuff!
Ariff: makes me giggle...

Yeah weird how that sometimes happens, when I did the Thing that Tried to Marry me, I had nothing in mind so used my cloud brush and started slapping clouds on and smearing them around trying to see if any shapes popped out and then poof there was a little green creature of some sort. I would like to see your expanded version of this when you get it completed.

Ha SirRon! That's great! There are lots of great sketches in this thread.
Well, mine didn't turn out how I wanted it and I went 10 minutes over. So I sighed, and put down my pen. And yes I'm aware that there's another dinosaur topic this week but I already had this idea for Cold.
