Well that's a new method to me, interesting way to get your reference pics . . .

On the model, it's near perfect, but there are a few things to change that will make it better.

For one, the tam/hat on his head, is too flat at the front. To give it that realistic look, round it out and up some.
Also, if you're going to hide the models lack of ears, you're going to have to bring that hat down quite a bit more to give people the proper impression that they're there.

Either bring down the hat or have atleast part of an ear... Oh, and I think your nose is slightly smaller than it is in the model

Ah very, very good! And that's indeed one hell of an interesting way of getting reference, instead of drawing the edgeloops after the photo was taken! ;)

Nice!

One tip though, here's the master's ear tutorial (totally kickass): http://www.secondreality.ch/tutorials/modelling/ear.html

I think the very front of the nose needs to be a bit rounder and droop down a tad more. Comparing those last pics to your front on reference.

There's a band of shadow running horizontally across the face at about the mid nose level, probably just a few verts that need moving around a bit.

Also, the chin definition on the sides of the mouth look a little too prominent in your model compared to the ref pics. Actually now that I think about it, in the side pic of your head, those lines appear to be from puffy cheaks, not from a jawline. In the model it looks more like an extension of the chin/jaw.

Out side of that and the lack of ears, I'd say you did a fantastic job of capturing yourself. Good work man!
