Hey guys,

I have a question about maya's dynamic calculation,
I'll take for example a very easy cenerio:

Domino scene, where cubes falles one after each other,
total cubes: 150 (just for example),
So after seting the scene (motion path, passiv rigids, active key..etc),

I let maya play the simulation, and it works well until maya start to calculate from the 100+ cube, than the simulation becomes very very slow and the scene stuck.

now my question is, is there a way to tell maya that it won't calculate all of "fallen" domino cubes? it seems maya enumerates all the objects, thats why the scene is slow!
I want to simulate only the standing cubes.

Best regards,
Shany.

try keying the 'ignore' attribute on for those ones you want to stop evaluation for.

you should try out "nima physX for maya", which is a 3rd party rigid body plugin for maya.

fallen obj won't kill maya, but those tight collison rigid body.

100 or 200 rigid body is "nothing" for that plugins to sim.

here is over 2k objs... my first test.

If it's just a line of dominoes, you could simulate a few, bake them out, then delete their dynamic properties. Repeat as needed until yuo get the results you are after.

Hopefully the new dynamics solver Duncan showed at Siggraph will resolve some of the past Maya dynamics issues (it looks like it will).
