Title: A Handful of Paradise
Name: Josh Anderson Anderson
Country: United States
Software: Flash

One of my many self portraits. I have been trying different techniques with my drawing style, and I tried in this image I tried to take the focus away from the self portrait and focus on the animated (Animated in thee flash version) scene in my hand. I spent quite a bit of time looking in the mirror and back to get my proportions correct, and I think that this finished piece correct, though I do wish I added more, maybe a completed village. Any pointers on things I should have left out or added would be much appreciated.
I also have a flash version of this over on DA at

hey whats up man. this is awesome! i like the contrast and the line work. i like how you layed out the little environment in your hands. very cool.
I dont understand a few things though. you have an unusual green glow behind the environment that is glowing on your shirt. i dont know where that is comming from. and i see you have the water running out of your nose. but then the water seems to be running down the little hill also. The water coming out of your nose and the ater falling of the environment doesnt really look like water. it reminds me more of some kind of strang smoke.. Maybe check out different water falls or how water looks when the sink is on to get some ideas. anyway i think this is very cool and i really like it alot.

Excellent vector work! Hands looks great!

crit: what Malcon says about the water. The falling water needs work to look like water. The nose looks odd... too bulbous or worng angle... don't know. I'm sure it's anatomically correct (did you use a reference photograph of yourself for this?) but it looks odd.

Yeah I noticed the bulbousness of the nose. I was trying to do the shadows, but in order to do it right I would have made the nose look flat. I can live with a bulbous nose, but in the future I will do more layers of shading so I don't have to sacrifice anything.
