I like the design...perhaps because it resembles my jetpack design...Where did you get your inspiration from?

JCahoon - I haven't seen your jetpack design. I've worked out the look from my own imagination, blocking out primitives in Max and refining it from that. My first Max file is dated 03/09-06, and it was originally intended for the 3-D world magazine 'the moment a legend is born' competition. If you think I've ripped your design, come right out and say it and lets compare work files.

This bad guy will stand far back, facing the camera and controlling the dragon.

Thaldir, hi. My idea is for a showdown scene, good vs bad, and it'll kind of be a stylised scene with two characters facing each other on a battlefield, each controlling a fighter. The good fighter you can see, and the bad one, well, I had a more organic look in mind. Much like a dragon. All C&C is welcome, so please, feel free to comment.

I see, you aren't going with a scene from the book, then.

If I may (and this is just my opinion, mind you), while a scene like you describe will be definitely a great portfolio piece or a great entry for a 'Fantasy vs Science Fiction' contest, in this specific case I'd go for something more specifically related to Eon.

Good luck anyway, and whatever you do I hope to see this piece finished!

I'm making the assumption (the mother of all etc.) that you know the book in question rather well. Do you see this scene relating to anything in the plot, cause I might be tempted to twist my final scene a little in order for it to fit better. I'll post a new one now.

There is a thread called inspiration you can view, I believe if you are in the Eon illustration forum and look at the little list of links on top, you will see the link. You might be able to modify your image a bit to fit, there is a lot of information and a few chapters of the book even to look at. Good luck :)

Well, I've browsed Eon, really, searching for elements that could help me define metter the scene I had chosen to illustrate (two of the main characters viewing the fourth chamber, the one with the islands).

I would suggest to you to have a look at the thread 'Eon-the book' over here

And see if something strikes your fancy, otherwise have a look at some entries (most of us say from where in the book the idea comes), if then you'll need more detailed info, I'll be happy to provide it to you (I've the book in English).

some examples: any of the seven chambers in the asteroid, Earth's nuclear 'Death', the ceremonial opening of a gate between alternate universes, the Soviet attack to the asteroid...

You could still keep the main implant, I think, but change it into a futuristic fight (no dragon, instead a fighter ship of different design) and have two of the main characters in the book take the place of the 'bad guy' and 'good guy'
