View Full Version : FastFur
philhoole 12-14-2006, 11:05 PM Hi,
I have been having a look for a little Christmas present for myself and was wondering about FastFur.
I already have the Maxon Hair module so I was wondering if there is any big reason to have FastFur as well? Is there something special that FastFur does that Maxon doesn't do? To be honest I am more than happy with Hair and it doesn't seem to lack any features.
Any opinions?

philhoole,
I am a huge fan of Renato's Fast&Fur! It's EASY to use and I feel that you can get results very comparable to what HAIR can do with a little extra work. Saying that, if you are happy with HAIR, I don't see why you would want to get FF. I don't have the money to purchase to even consider HAIR, so FF was a WONDERFUL alternative!

Fast & Fur creates better grass that Hair in my opinion, because it uses flat geometry while Hair produces round hair, unsuitable for grass really.

Hair is flat too, but it's most of the time just a volumetric post effect unless you tell it to generate geometry, the difference is that FF just does what HAIR does if you set HAIR to generate geometry and to generate "Flat" (then turn off "Render Hairs"), you would then most likely also want to modify the editor setting in the hair object too to reduce the number of hairs shown in viewport.

I also like using FandF for grass. I mostly use it though, for things like twigs in a vase. The feedback is great and it's just a fun little plug.
