CGTalk - dwarven war machine

Howdy !

well i haven't posted much of my work so far, just because when i see other's postings it just frightens me how good you people are !!

still here is a wip i'm on, it is a dwarven war machine, far from being finished, you can easily notice that the whole front is missing : )
also, on the tower, behind the cannon will be many details like a couple flags hanging, a place for the canon balls, and sort of a fence, well, many details are still to be modeled !

i know also that it might be strange, the mesh i feel is somewhere between hi and low res, and that'd eb because i'm learning to model, so as i learn i tend to either go towards hi or low, but that'll be for the next models :rolleyes:

well, any crits and comments gladly welcomed ! i'll add more pics as i go

nope it was basically inspired by Warcraft 3 Human wagon unit and some Warhammer units as well for the size of the canon : )

When i started on the global shapes of it, i felt that the central piece (its "body") was not coming along great and that it needed more details, so i kept only the wheels and "mouth" of the canon and went on adding parts and stuff.

I like the "started" version better, the first picture you posted was cool, but something was missing, I'd go back to the Steam Tank idea and just add to the detail.

Matthewma, did you really ? well on the new one, the whole front of it is missing, that might be it : )
I'll be getting into modeling the front cabin as soon as a couple details will be added to finish the tower.

phoenix2k, thanks; i did play for a long time (both table and role play) and don't have that time anymore, unfortunately ! i don't own that much miniatures myself, but i still have a lot of "White Dwarf" magazine issues, from which i take inspiration too.
