If you want to reproduce a similar effect of chrome object in maya or another 3d program you have to do like that:

Chrome Material

Create a metal material and than on the reflection level use a falloff (sampler info) color with this settings: dark gray in center and white on the borders.
On the glossiness channel put a procedural fractal noise ( cellular for Max)and use it around 20 %.

High quality Rendering reflection

Once the scene has been done, you have to create some objects like spheres and boxes only visible as scene reflection/refraction.
Give to these objects the following materials: white, amber, glass and light blue all of them full autoilluminated.
Put them into the scene around your objects.
