Hi everyone,
a simple problem at first glance has turned out to be quite complicated. Hope you can help me out here:
I´m animating a wolf-walk using a downloaded wolfrig that works great. Only problem occures when I put the front legs into extreme position. For example: the wolf reaches out with its foreleg, so its streched - paw pointing forward - touching the ground in the following frames. At this extreme position the mesh gets a false deformation at the shoulder. (pic 1)
This looks like a weighting problem of the skin at first. When I move any related controler in ther area, however, the skin pops right back to the right position again. (pic 2)
It doesn´t matter which controler I use or how much I change its value (as long as it effects the area). When Maya resolves this frame, the false deformation is gone. Now, when I move in the timeline to another frame and then back to the first, deformed one, the problem is there yet again. (same with rendering that frame or playblasting the sequence) My guess is, that this is not a rig- but a maya problem.
I would be really glad for any suggestions on how to solve this issue. Please write me your opinion!
Thanks,
Andrea

sum up
=====================================================
- leg is in extreme position and shows skin deformation in the shoulder area (pic 1)
- I´m staying at the frame which shows the false deformation in the timeline
- I change the value of any controler that effects the area (lift up the leg a little or change the rotation of the shoulder, whatever)
- the deformation is gone in that frame (pic 2)
- now I move in the timeline to another frame and come back to the first one
- the deformation is back again
- when I render the frame or playblast the sequence the problem is still there
