View Full Version : WIP - baby pill
neilyb 02-15-2003, 12:57 PM Hi uys, here is a current almost finished WIP. Any comments and crits would be welcome!
Also I would like to have a membrane around the babys (as seen in 3D world last month) but have not managed to simulate it with Fresnel and bumps. I am thinking maybe I will have to model the little twists and bumps by hand to ge the effect?? (Mdme Sadie, any ideas?)

WOW
Extremly nice depth effect.. The only thing that strikes me is that the glas looks like its hovering...
cheers

Ah yes, thats cos Cinema's radiosity isn't that good at glass. I am currently re-rendering with a solid glass copy and render tag (also for the capsule as the current shadow is a PShop bodge job!)!

scary concept....
how about making the pill more pill like (chalk etc looking) with the central area blending into the embryos bit....at the moment it looks to clean and un pill like....or even an emboss feel/stamp on the side rather than floaty look.....again just a couple of things you could try (or not as the case may be)...the future pharma stamped / embossed on the pill....other than that like everything about depth, background etc.....also could try changing the colour of the brown fluid area that the embryoes are sitting in....haven't got any ideas about a membrane though...but sounds like i good idea..

Weeeeellll.....the babies in the pill are more of a "one day there will be a pill to give you babies", rather than simply to increase fertility rather than a realistic "the babies will be in the pill and digested in the stomach...". The message here is the advancement of technlogy....how easy will fertil. treatment become??
I am also thinking of having an leaflet on the right hand side from inside the box....sort of, take one a day till discomfort is felt in the abdomenal area....
I went for the capsule idea after much experimentation. Now there are capsules like this, without a join etc...this allowed for a minimum of distortion with refraction.....I just am never happy with my solid transparent objects......
Nice work bud
If youre now using R8 make a separate light for just illuminating the capsule the light does not model itself around the capsule so you dont get a really 3d effect.
The back ground image I find confusing. Is the scene set in a lab or a kitchen or a bath room?.If its a kitchen then you have to much rear area which looks like the kitchen is only tiles and basin area.If its a lab make your table stainiess not wooden and add some more scientific clutter in the bg.
The problem with the capsule is lighting bud,not the material.

I hear you Stu, but I ain't got no Oxygen.....lol:(
Yeah, it's a kitchen and yeh I know what you mean. Trouble was to get the pill at an angle at which it can be seen clearly and have the box and the glass too. Pehaps some cups and pans next to the sink and some knives hangin on the wall?
Even Radiosity isn't an answer to all those lighting blues!
Hi Neil :)
Um no oxygen....:hmm: ...ah try light clipping with no shadow. If that does not work try a small spotlight using the same direction as your key and and try increasing its contrast see if that helps.
If you have a digi camera or can beg borrow or steal one take a pic of your kitchen :)
Stu.
maybe use buffy or something to make the pill look deeper. not a prowith that sorta thing but it does work kinda well for solid reflections. and maybe put like a banj bubble with roughness around the babies
