Hi all, this is my first post for my latest work in progress. First of all I must admit that the quality of the work on this forum is astonishing and I give props to all you masters out there, you guys are the inspiration I use

 to all!

These are the first rough (really rough) sketches of my last character, a death rider. I must admit I can't really draw and it takes me a long time to put my ideas into paper  . I'm starting the post from the very basic scratch work and adding detail as I go. The final character should look like a hooded skeleton/flesh rider/knight on a horse which is also part flesh/skeleton, with some rusty armor.

I'm using polygons and trying to keep it all as light as possible. I'm required to model everything so the hood/cape will all be modeled in... (gulp... no cloth)

here are the first rough sketches

First rough sketch (http://www.lacaci.com/working/rider1.gif)
Second rough sketch (http://www.lacaci.com/working/rider2.gif)
Third basic sketch (http://www.lacaci.com/working/rider3.gif)

any ideas on how to make my life easier modeling this guy will be greately appreciated...

Thank you all!!!

p.s. Edited post and included an early render of the horse...still missing alot of detail...slowly getting there :-)

Cool, it reminds me of the Nazgul from the Lord of the rings movies. I like the way the model is coming along so far. Im just a beginner myself and I cant comment much myself or give any insight, but its looking good.

just a quick update on the model, right to left... polys, polys with 180deg normals, & smoothed on the left.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

looking sweet....but, are you going to try to animate this? If so you may run into problems.

the animation will be part of the modeling demo reel, and the horse+rider will be running through the scene with the camera besides it, so I guess I'll have to animate the cloth by hand but I will never dismount it :)

thks for the feedback! :wavey:

Another test render with low-res hands..

It is going good but there is one thing that knaws at me.
The horse man looks too big for his horse or maybe the horse has short legs. Would have to see from other angles.

Something to think about:rolleyes:

I like the idea or what about the 4 horsemen from the bible. Then you could make each one have it's own character with just a few adjustments.

Good luck

Looks good man. I'd love to see this model textured with skin and muscle hangin off the skull. Good stuff, keep it up.

Looks really good, pity you can't do the cloth with some sort of cloth dynamics. That would look really cool.

Looks good, I like the clothes much.

One thing is when u did put the sceleton details, the rest of the horses body looks like it needs more detail, but maby u have someting in mind with your texturing, donīt know.
Looking foreward to se the futher progress:)

looking good one suddjestion would be to maybe pop his spine out on the back of the horse so the body matchs the face , but looking good my friend
