pappuftp 02-15-2003, 06:38 AM HI,
I was wondering if it is possible to save all the materials in the material slot in max ( which maxes to 24 at any given time ) in one sinbgle library..
i know the multisubobject trick..

You mean you want to save all the slots into a new clean library? If so, just open the library like your gonna select a material for a slot. Click new. Then start saving each slot to the library and wholla.... all the mat's in the editor saved to it's own library. I personally just use one library and save all my (and acquired) materials to it.
Howdy !
i don't know of a way to save all materials in Medit at once in a new or openned library, i guess this could be achieved with scripting...
there is a way to update your library's materials from those in the editor/scene, but before doing that you'll still have to copy everything into a library...manually, and one by one i guess.

which i have done .. already..
what i wanted was to be able to select all the material slots at one go and save them OR save them to Single mat file.. is that how it works? .. i dunno if i sound dumb by saying the above.. but i have some fr *.mat libraries which contain many materails in one single *.mat file.. and it has each material in a seperate material slot..
gawd this material editor has some serious flaw if it maxes out at 24.. and no space to add more..
why was this fundamental problem not addressed? i mean its a whole lotts clicks to get around teh limit.. why have the limit problem in the first place.. but hey .. we are talking "discreet" here..
sorry its just me ranting ..:scream:

Well, the necessity to edit more than 24 materials at one time is not usually there. You can have as many materials in your scene as memory allows. There are a few scripts (if only the one I know of) that allow you to extend the material editor slots by using pages. If you need something like that check www.scriptspot.com for it.
