View Full Version : Animation: Something's Fishy
funnydoodle 02-15-2003, 05:07 AM Hi all, here's a 10 second short of a flying logo animation for TechTV. 5 of us worked on it.
Click here (www.angelfire.com/falcon/edmundw/Fishy.mpg) for the animation.
Here's the credits, i think my team members deserves a great pat on the shoulder. Without them, we wouldn't have finished the whole thing.
Ken Liang (me) - Modeling
David Lee - Modeling
Alex Chow - Modeling
Ryan Lee (group leader) - Texturing & Lighting
Pek Harn - Animation
*And thanx to our seniors who composited our short! Lecturers who supported us all the way and gave us the chance.
Comments are welcomed.
*do visit my friend's animation as well:

Very nicely done! That one is a perfect example of how important sound is to animation.

looks great, except I can't figure out what the little kidny shaped things are that fly out of and then into the fish when they get scared.

I assumed those were the fishes eyes bugging out, like in cartoons. That part was a bit unclear, but overall I thought it was a great animation  Really liked the first part, and the sounds are very nice :D

Kinda looks like something from Finding Nemo....from PIXAR
But the PIXAR 1 really high standard....how do compare...this 1 good is becoz its without any plugin and its was sem 1 work, right funnydoodle?! However, correct me if i was wrong:wavey:

Why, because it has fish under water, acting toon-ish?
I think this one stands fine on it's own. :)
Plugins aren't cheating (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42715), it's not even relevant.
Cheers
Starv : i agree wat u had say, wat i mean is i still dunno to use pluggin yet, hehe

um, you definitly stole this idea from Pixar, try to get some original ideas.

im sorry but we can assure u that this idea of ours are hundred percent original. while thinking for this idea, pixar's Finding Nemo wasn't in publicity yet. This idea of ours started back on july last year. so, it's up to u if u still wanna think i rip it or something. who knows? pixar might have ripped it from us lol...
Eman597 : Sorry, Wat you say was not totally right coz as i know they was starting fist (from the storyborad we knew that...) . However there re no point that we argue who stealing who idea, i believe there re many time u have a same idea with others even Prof.
:wavey:
Starv : Its ok, there re ntg bout who re right, thanks for reply
:shame:
Funnydoodle : ...........wat to say ?!

nice work though, really like the glow and the bouncing of the fish, the monster is lol and perfect for what he should be!
ok you guys do excellent work, beginning from the storyboard and ending with that great animation you surely deserve a great :applause: , but I wonder: when you have a storyboard that has a more close camera-point, why use one that firther away? I guess the animation will be more clear when you go closer with the cam, I had a trouble understanding what happened (I now read that it were eyes that popped out) maybe you guys could clear that one out by adding an 1 second closeup pop-out-of-the-eyes animation! it's just a thought, but I think will clear out comfusion, thats in there now...
but I'm still yours true fan!
 &
Guirnaldo : i agree at wat u say....
If i was not wrong i think i had went to ur thread , ur work are great too....

Looks great, I'm an avid TechTV watcher, and I love to see those little spots. My only crit, as others have mentioned, is the popping eyes. I had to watch it 3 times, to figure out what they were. Maybe just have them stretch out a little like your Story Boards show, instead of actually popping all the way out.
