Title: Suzie & Bunny christmas!
Name: Andrew Hickinbottom
Country: United Kingdom
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop

Its that time o' year again! Time to dust off some characters and slap on the Chrimbo garb!

Thought i'd unite Bunny girl and Suzie for this one. Was kinda hard getting a face expression for Suzie that 'fitted' with Bunny girl and didnt make her look dumb or too out of place.
Aside from the wild body proportion differences, I think it turned out OK and was quite pleased that Bunny rendered OK with Suzie's lighting setup.

Have a good Christmas and a crackin' new year anyhoo!

Ohh whos the new chick!? Hey Andy Merry Christmas, always been a fan of your work! nice to see a new pic arrive from you!

Would love to see you tackle some more realistic kind of female character, with your rigging and posing skills bet you could come up with a cracker! ( excuse the pun!)

Cheers

I like the santa one better, she looks drunk and her proportions are more outlandish. I would like to see a Jewish version, but that might be a future project for me. ;-)

I think both of them are great characters but I'm a fan of Suzie (She looks awesome in almost every dress ;))
Nice work :)

Sexy, and seasonal. Nice, they do look slightly odd together I must admit, but still, nice.

I like your work a lot; love both these models but Suzie's expression is a little weird and maybe it's just me, but her elbows look a little odd. Damn. I feel like Scrooge with all your seasonal good wishes.

2 stars! Awesome :buttrock:

The whole thing was only a bit of fun that took me a few hours to do, so I wouldnt take it too seriously.

If anyone has any major gripes with this, then let me know. Its the only way ill learn!

2 stars is a little bit harsh...

it is a good work but for sure not your best one. The two girls look pretty good. The problem is the global pictures. I don't like much the halo effect between them, and the top blue is ...... hum too blue... I mean 0 0 255 you know :) also the snow falling could be finer detailed or... not sure also about that but it sounds strange to my eyes. This is just my opinion to justify why you only have 2 stars.

Wow. 2 stars? Hope I didn't set the tone, but take it as a compliment. You set the bar so high with your other works that this one kind of feels below par for you. Those elbows on Suzie are really weird, like bent straws or something and her eyes look a little crossed. To me, it kind of feels like she'd be smiling and maybe gleefully hunching up her shoulders -- that's the vibe I get from her earlier poses.

Now that I think about it, Bunny doesn't look all that happy either. Not sure how you would achieve it, but maybe the two of them could be cheek-to-cheek or in a warmer pose... hmmm. I might be straying off track now. Anyhow, this image kind of feels like the action figure version of the "real" images you posted before.

Sorry about all that rubbish - felt a little less restrained after the rating dropped.

BTW - best reaction to a low rating ever :)

Yeah - some good points there. I agree that the BG is crap - I dont really have the time or the entheausiasm to make good backgrounds for my characters once im done. I guess thats why I usually render them on plain white.

The skinning is pretty shoddy on her elbows - surprised i missed that one - her costume was made very quickly.

My usual poses take a long time to get right, and they go through WIPs, whereas once the characters for this were made, it was posed and rendered in a few hours. Guess it shows.

Still - christmas is a short period that comes once a year, so its kinda good I didnt spend ages on it!

Its just a novelty image :)

HaPPY ChristMas ANdY!!

Have a good one! And who cares about stars at this time of year except for wise men with smelly presents?

(And what's going on with your website for ages and ages... I've got a dead link on the front page of my website?? Is it coming back ever?)

Stars mean nothing old bean! Except to Patrick Moore... ;) If anything stands out as being 'not quite right', it's the slight awkwardness of the pose, particularly of Suzie, and that mainly because her face is straight on to us. Her open hand could be turned a bit too to give it a bit of subtlety. However the characters are superb, and the way Bunny looks as though she is being slightly dragged along, adds to the feeling of 'party'... hic...

I like the character design. And there is a little of that Gilligan's Island fantasy thing going on.

Good work, overall. I think the lighting should be slighting more realistic. Would make it look like those stop motion animations we get to watch at Christmas time. :) The vivid green and red is nice and stylized, but I think if it was a little more subdued, and the lighting more ambient, with just a TOUCH of occlusion... That would be cool.

Hmm. Their leg's look a little odd, but I dig on the toony design.

Edit: And heheh yeah, the blonde looks totally 3 sheets to the wind :D

Nice work Andy.

My only gripe is the legs on the Santa girl- well from the stocking tops down they look kinda strange, perhaps a bit stick like (too thin), and the feet seem too small as well.

Anyway... my two pennies worth...

Always great to see your work.

Merry Christmas (let's hope it snows)...

A real pleasure to see your work as always.

My only sugestion would be to move both of their heads pointing at each other instead of away to give the scene a warmer touch. Because like that looks like they don't like each other that much.

But who the hell m' I to tell u how to do your lovely art.

Well, you do more lovely pieces in a hour than I could do in a week ... I hate you, burn in hell :p

Good job ... again ...
