Heh, I can't believe you guys are all excited about this movie. It looks horrid to me. Tonight when they showed the trailer on Dare Devil the entire theatre roared with derisive laughter.

Dare Devil also had "Willard", a movie I'm seriously not sure if it's supposed to be comedy or horror. It looks THAT bad.

it has finished the DL but save as quicktime movie is grayed out as always :/

Laughter? Hmm.. I'd probably laugh too. It would look like a parody to "Xmen 2". But they already made "Mystery Men". Not to mention the long ass title being shrunk into the acronym of "LXG". The title needs a bit more work. Perhaps they should have worked on it a bit more before sending it out. The movies does have some nice SFX going on there. Perhaps some enjoyable characters where you can sit there and mutter to yourself softly "Cool!"

But this movie is going to have to beat XMen2 AND the Matrix:Reloaded for "Team-player" movies for this year. I don't think it'll score top box office, but it'll surely bring in a good deal of number of seats. Hopefully it's not so horrible as to walk out on the movie.

I couldn't see DareDevil tonight, plan on going to see it Sunday morning when the theatre first opens and there's practically not a soul there. *sigh* Guess I'll just go draw until then.

Willard... was also on the Shanghai Knights trailer set. It looked like a modern "Pied Piper" type of story. Or perhaps a character from the Batman-Beyond series that has Rat-esque features and controls rats. My girlfriend will surely love THIS trailer, seeing how she's against rats and snakes. How bad you ask? She was scared of the big ass snake in Harry Potter 2, THAT is how bad she's scared of snakes.. and HP2 wasn't an all that scary movie. heh

Hi all, yeh you're right Russo, Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill made the book from which the movie is inspired. Good comics with plenty of ideas for character creation. I strongly recommend it for the steam-punk look.

WhiteRabbit.obj : go and get a copy of the comics before laughing, don't know about the movie but the comics is definately very good.

yeah the DD trailer sucked big time, and this LXG is quite nice, I'm sure that any film with connery is going to be a blast.......... Cheers

I'm an big fan of Alan Moore. I look at this trailer.... Well, I look at it odd. I know what I am seeing but I have a feeling that it's not quite right.

I really wish that the ad would show off each character with their names. If the audience knew who was who then maybe they would get excited over this film.

Personally when I first picked up the comic, I just died of laughter that Mr Hyde, Mina Murry, Alan Quartermain, Captain Nemo and Hewley Griffen joined together to form a Justice League. I don't want people to look at this film and laugh, but that's what happens when people take well known characters and make a new story about their adventures. I mean you got Tom Sawer at the wheel of the car shotting off guns.

With the film set in Victorian England, all this action and effects I think a lot of people will get excited. I don't want people to just make fun of the movie, but I do think that knowing who is who would help people understand what's going on.

I just think that 20th Centure Fox is doing a terrible job advertising their film. I love Daredevil but the trailers just bored me, and the same thing with the upcoming X-Men sequel. I think it's going to be an excellent film esspeically since it's directed by the same man who did Blade. I just feel odd about the trailer itself.

If you want to know more about these League of Extraordinary Gentlemen then I recmoned you checking out the comic's web site.

http://www.wildstorm.com/minisites/loeg/loeg.html

If you Love Victorian age stories then you will love this one, since it's a whole War of the Worlds storyline.

Gkaine: Go to your temporary internet files and find the movie, then just copy it to another folder.
In Windows XP: Open IE, go to Tools>Internet Options. In the sections that says Temporary Internet Files, click "Settings." Then click, "View Files." It will be in there somewhere, just arrange them by size and look for it.

Sean Connery does not instantly make a great film

Anyone remember "The Avengers" movie? I heard that in an interview he stated he only did the movie for the money.

so much to say right now........ok first of all superhero movies is not just a random decision from hollywood.....it is what the audience wants to see.....just like video games are now so many of then are like GTA , hitman2 and the getaway that is what the people are buy for a while it was fighting games now it is not.....you realize a look of movies are mocked up and ran past audience surveys are passed out and people tell movie production companies(or whoever makes the decisions) what they do and dont want to see..........
ok now i am also a big Alan Moore fan and i do not beleive that anyone will make fun of the movie. I do see a lot comedy involved so it should be a fun ride.........
this one also sneaked past my radar ande should be put on my list of must see.....i dont think it will be the next xmen i think it will be a different type of movie i see it getting a different type of following

i still think it looks stupid....no offence to alan moore, whoever he is. and if the movie is dumb ill make fun of it, if its good then yay another movie to watch:) im just not a comic fan. all the stories and characters seem the same. And im jsut ready for something fresh to come out of hollywood. i think i can deal with one more year of the superhero thing. but after that no more please. I want a warcraft or starcraft cg movie. (me and a billion other people).

The movie looks alright i think, the announcer that says the title at the end is what really kills the image i think, the name needs serious work, but i suspect that this movie will draw at least some crowds purely because connery is in it. While connery doesnt make a movie great just by his presence, he does have a tendancy to do rather good work and only appear in movies that are relatively good (usually)

This looks like the kind of movie that could come out absolutely stunning OR be a real disappointment... and nothing inbetween...

Looks cool CG effect wise though!

The comic books are great if anyone is skeptical about the movie check out someof the books. If the movie is even close it will be worth the watch.

The trailer sucks because of the guy speaking, and the music.

ARG! How many times has the very same guy been used in trailers? Like 50 times - just last year? How many times has pompous operatic choir music been used for stuff like this?
Double ARGG!! (Also the silly MTV-type rapid cutting doesn't help at all.)

Why couldn't they have used maybe a female voice, maybe one with a prim, Victorian british accent, and maybe some chamber music from the time period, to build up the tension gradually instead of this SLAM!BANG!BOOM! crap... ANY kind of music EXCEPT heavy metal or dramatic choir! Sorry for the rant, but this simply grates on my ears, and makes veins bulge in my forehead just thinking about it...

This could be an excellent movie (who knows), but the clowns in marketing are screwing it up.

Man, I couldn't agree more. And while we're on it..... the whole 'blockbuster' genre in general is a bit long in the tooth for my taste.

My thoughts exactly :D They're so predictable... +you got Armageddon+Deep impact almost at the same time. Then there's red planet and Mission to mars, they were just reffered to as "one of the mars' movies" :surprised why does that always happen

yup. i'm willing to wager that abbreviating the title to LXG will keep many away. Just listen to it... "LXG... The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." it sounds lame. Just ditch the abbreviation and call it what it's known as.

OT: Did any notice that the CG on the Matrix: Reloaded superbowl trailer was, well, a little bad? I'm assuming like they haven't done final renders yet (certainly looked like there were no proper shaders attached to the geo), but still it all felt a little clunky.

:annoyed:

ok... chekit... its kind of silly to talk about a bad trailer when you see it for it before a crappy-assed movie like Daredevil...

I mean fer chrissakes, the movie has had to have had the worst assed casting ever.. Ben Aflek.. a dude whose acting/movement skills are about as believable as a cucumber might have been in the same role...

And then that chick.. I mean, hell, she's ok in Alias, but if your going to cast someone for the role of Electra, PLEASE for GODSAKE CAST SOMEONE WITH BLACK HAIR...

Like maybe Lucy Liu, or that chick from Crouching tiger.. or AT LEAST SOMEONE SLAVIC!...

(tell you the truth, the only casting choice I agreed with was King Pin, mostly because he's a kick ass actor)

Anyway...

Now with regard to LXG... if you don't know anything about the dang comic, then wait for the movie before you knock it. The characters are awsome, the comic was bloody awsome, and
if the WORSE thing you can comment about it is the idea being kitch, and the name of the comic being even kitchier then WAKE UP... the casting looks like it was totally bang on...

I mean, its stupid to be knocking it because its kitch... anyone who does that is probably about as bad as the people who knocked Evil Dead and Army of Darkness when they first came out... ooo it sucks because of the "b-movie" genre...

ITS A COMIC MOVIE FERCRISSAKES!!!!!!!!!!!

They're ALL KITCHY.

THEY'RE ABOUT PEOPLE IN TIGHTS HALF THE TIME!...

this one is about literary figures.. laugh at it...

and besides... like everyone said... the sexiest man alive is in it...

Now, for LXG, it seems like it could be fun. No idea. I'll wait with my judgement until I've seen it (seems smarter to me :p).

The Comedian Trailer is hilarious. Just goes to show that some people in hollywood realise they take themselves a bit to seriously.

LXG.....I for one am very excited. I just came across the comic the other day and thought it would make for a great movie. It looks really good to me. I think the best thing to do is see it and judge it on its own not try and fit it into a category. As for the time it is placed in....I think that will add to the appeal once people get into it. The CG looked more polished to me than what I am seeing for the Hulk so far.

Sean Connery is a great actor....that does not gurantee a great film but at least it won't suck for lack of talent.

Daredevil...what can I say. I like it. Did not love it just liked it. I came out of Spiderman alot more jazzed and excited than DD. But I think Affleck did a good job. The fight scenes were not the best. I think one of the biggest differences between DD and say Matrix is that the time put in by Reeves and Fishburne resulted in them looking like they could actually fight. Affleck came across alot stiffer. His fight scenes seemed to rely more on cuts and funky angles. It's kinda like watching Jet Li fight. They can cut to a mid/long shot and just let him do his thing. There is no doubt than he can fight and whop your ass. Daredevil is supposed to be the same way so the tight shots and quick cuts made it a bit more disorienting than I would have liked.

I still don't get what every one has with these so called 'super heroes'....
My god, they're always a bunch of pussies who where too big a nerds to stand up for them selves when they got bullied, but then one day, they gain super human powers, and guess what they do next...they go dress in some skin tight suit, designed by their 3 year old little nephew and they're setting out to solve crime...YAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNN...

First thing i would have done was wreck half the city and beat those bullying punks to mushy pulp....
I really really hate all these stupid idiotic pussy assed over idealistic non realistic crap super hero flicks...

Yuch...

Oh and by the way...i laughed my ass of for this dumb trailer....i hate all those Alias, Charmed, Buffy the vampire slayer, Spiderman, superman series and movies...(waaaaay too polically correct US series for my taste)
(even Burton f*cked up the Batman character, even though the movie looked very cool, Batman was supposed to be this twisted freak in a Batsuit as far as i remember the comics...ahwell...)
