View Full Version : Load v7 fluid scenes in v8 = fatal error/crash
circusboy 12-12-2006, 07:20 PM I had been doing some r&d with fluid testing in v7 about 6 months ago. Just fluid, emitters and some fields-the scenes are otherwise very basic. But loading any version of them in Maya 8 crashes-fatal error.
Is this a known issue?-any way around it but by rebuilding from scratch in v8?
They still load in v7 just fine.

Looks like I found the culprit. Setting the Fuel>Light Released to a value other than 0 crashes this scene. With a default fluid its not a problem. But if I try and match my old settings first there is one-i.e. I can rebuild the crash from 'scratch' in v8 too.
So I resaved my v7 scene with this value = 0 and I can load in v8 now.
Now- I'll have to figure out what relationship is going on that buggers v8 but v7 is ok with...
any thoughts out there?

Wow-seems like Fuel is a bit of a mind field in v8.
-Create 3d fluid with emitter
-Make sure Fuel is a dynamic grid
-Edit a few different parameters under Content Details>Fuel-after 3 or 4 different edits I crash.
Can anyone else repro this?
