View Full Version : Change Settings?
Houkah 02-14-2003, 08:36 PM This might be a stupid question... but I like to have the channel box on the right and when i hit ctrl+a the attribute editor opens in its own window. Currently if channel box is on right side and i hit ctrl+a it gets rid of the channel box and replaces it w/ attribute editor. This is just a minor annoyance, but how do i get the attribute editor to open in its own window? (As far as i can remember, the way i'm used to it is how every version of maya i've used has worked)

What happened is that they just changed the default option of opening the attribute editor within Maya's window itself. Every version had the ability to do this in the past, but it was off by default, 4.5 puts it on by default.
Anyway, to fix it, go to 'Window/Settings-Preferences/Preferences' and look for the option box 'Open Attribute Editor' and select 'In Separate Window'. While you're at it, you may also want to do the same thing for the Tool Settings window just below this. Click on 'Save' and the AE will now open in a separate window as before.
