Hi there Fusionites,

I'm about to start work on a job involving comping 3d animated props & characters into a live action plate. The live action footage will be supplied with a couple seconds of grain - obtained by shooting a piece of grey card under flat lighting conditions (I think the production unit will be supplying the same grain shot on white & black card).

Q. My question is what blend method would be the appropriate one to use; ie. screen, lighten etc?

I thought that maybe lots of peeps have come accross this issue before.

Suggestions? Anyone!!

I am assuming the choice is between;
Screen, Multiply & Overlay.

I realise that I could match by eye, but I guess I am trying to understand how grain affects an image ie. Shadow and hilight areas etc.
