I just downloaded ShaderMan (latest version), and I was wondering what I need to set in View>Setting to have the Preview work and everything else?

Thx.

It depends on which renderman renderer you're using I guess, but for BMRT it's really easy. You just click on BMRT in the list box under Settings/Renderers and it works for me, it might be that simple for the others too assuming you have the paths for those programs set up properly when you installed them. I can't get it to work with 3Delight 1.0 beta though, I think because it outputs a message saying it's beta when you run the exe, it probably overruns a buffer or something since Shaderman runs it hidden, so it crashes for me. It might work with the last non beta version though, I haven't tried. I just use BMRT for the previews though even though I use 3Delight for rendering, good enough for me.

To get 3delight beta to work you need to recompile the checker.sl and sttexture.sl shaders in your shaderman\shaders directory.

I had the same problem and that fixed it.

Thanks a lot somlor, that worked! I honestly was getting tired of BMRT's slow renders. 3Delight is quite fast. :buttrock:

I just get weird errors:

defaultname0.slo not found...
'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

It looks like it doesn't support spaces in path names. You could try to open up the shaderman.ini file and remove any path to the exe's and just have the file name, ie. change:
"C:/[path]/renderer.exe" to just
"renderer.exe"
but you have to make sure you have the path to the program directory set up correctly for your renderer in your Environment Variables in Control Panel/System.

CIM, which renderer are you trying to preview with?

Nevermind. I re-installed to C:\ and it works fine now. I guess it just doesn't work in C:\Program Files\.
