Ok so I I have a model that I'm trying to texture. basically I want to make a little dirt on it so I create a blend material with the object main material in the first slot and a darker version of that same material in the second slot and vertex color in the mix/blend slot.
On the object (which is an editable P) I add a vertex paint modifier and go to work....... nothing.... I paint and paint but no vertices seem to be effected. I zoom out and start on the outer areas and only a few random vertices seem to respond.
I do a quick render to see if its just nt updating in the view port but alas no nothing!
OK so out of curiosity I convert it to an editable mesh and apply the same modifier and BEHOLD IT IS GOOD!
So why doesn't the vertex paint modier work on an EPoly? and HOW THE HECK DO I GET IT TO WORK!!!???

*pant pant pant*

ok I'm calm now..... anyone? anyone?

Hey Sir Eel :), my guess is that maybe certain areas are selected on a sub-object level therefore making only the selected areas/vertices paintable.

this is not the case otherwise when I converted it to another poly the same thing would have not happened again.
It only works when the object is an EMesh
