View Full Version : quantize and snap not working

i am using 9.6 mac, i opened an fbx file which looks to be to scale, and when i try and use quantize to move things 1 inch at a time, it just moves it randomly around. snapping is also all messed up.

i just realized that the quantize works in point mode, but not when using the model tool and just trying to move things around. odd.

i copied the content out into a new file with no luck.

any suggestions?

Quantizing in model mdoe is very difficult for scale because it works off Percentage. if your modle is 200m, and the default qunatize is used, which is 10%, then every incriment will be 20m if you scale it up till its 300 m, then stop, then start again, you will then be scaling at 30m incriments as 10% of 300 is 30. Makes it extremely difficult when using more complex numbers.Also, and I think in my opinion its bad design/bug, but quantize seems to not allow you to get backt o your original result. so if I start at 200m, and scale in 20m incriments, I seem to jump from 180 to 220, skipping right over my original value of 200

this seams as if it's more of a buggy behavior in that it has never happened before. in fact, i can make a 1 inch cube, turn on quantize at 1 inch, and it still won't move around at 1 inch.

however, some of the other things in the scene, like a symettry object i created does move at 1 inch. it's really odd behavior.
