Hi.

I have been trying to teach myself uv mapping
in lightwave. See the image below. The green
arrow points to parts of my uvmap which i dont seem to be
able to tweak. they are selectable as polys but wont move.
(the rest of the map will move though even though unselected)
Ive noticed the pieces I'm trying to manipulate have no points...
any advice so appreciated it's not funny.

Also the original image was taken from a screenshot of my screen
and then put into photoshop, and yet my uvmap needed tweaking
so i got pretty far, with only a few pieces left to move, then I
hit my stumbling block. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not a Lightwave user, so I can't help much I'm afraid. Maybe try collapsing the object and re-unwrapping? That's what I'd do in Max.

If you select all of the points in your uv texture view and unweld them you will then be able to move the ones that seem like they do not have any points. Once you move them in and change them reweld all the points together. Hope this works for you.

Hey timsvw, Thanks for replying to me.

I tried your method and it worked! :) except
when I tried to reweld all my points they all sucked into the centre
of my map. I think there must be an order I have to reweld them in.

I thank you again for giving me advice.

cheers.

Don't reweld them using the weld tool. Rather just hit "m" to merge them back together ;)
