RoryWoodford 02-14-2003, 10:37 AM Hi all,
I've finally finished editing together my first showreel. It has my SCARAß animations that I have finally completed in it. Have a look at it.

That was great work. Can you give a breakdown of what you did on certain shots? I like the shot of the jet fighting towards the bridge. Was that a camera map and a cg composite? What software did you use? The on negative was the text at the front. I thought it was too fast and jittery...

Thanks for the feedback
Here's the breakdown of the F-16 bridge shot:
I did this entire shot by myself. I started with the stock footage of the bridge, then using 3D Studio MAX's out-the-box camera tracking software, I tracked a few points from the footage and guestimated their location in 3D space. The track points can be seen as white axises. After the tricky mission of camera tracking was done, things got easier. Firstly I built a box primitive to matte out the bridge when the jets flew underneath it and to see the location of the bridge in my scene. The I took an F-16 model and created a simple animation of them flying over and under the bridge. I added some particle sprays for the vapour trails, added two lights, rendered and colour corrected. Done :)

If you have the time and cash, consider a course with Escape Studios - which are in London.
Everyone who completes a course there seems to go onto much bigger jobs...BBC, ILM, Tippet Studios...worth a look.

Sure Leigh,
I'll write it to CD and bring it around, just give me a call sometime.
Oh and check out Hennie's new website. (http://www.hennieblaauw.com) The concept artist extraordinaire.
I'm pluging his site cause I kinda built it ;).
Boone: Time yes, cash noooo. It's really crappy when you have to divide the worth of your life savings when moving from South Africa to UK. *shudder*:thumbsdow
Wow,
You've done some great work! I love how fluid all your motions are; top notch!!

Re: Rory.
Ah, this happens to us all. Still, whilst you're in the UK let me know if you need any advice in "dealing with the natives"!
