View Full Version : machinegun shooting effect
Hey friends, i got a problem, i animated a ROBOT who have a machinegun in the arm, but i'm not sure how to create the effect when is shooting, in order to view the fire turn on and off, when it's the action also, when shoot i want to the ROBOT iluminate a little with the shoot, ummm someone know some good tutorial about that, or maybe have an idea, maybe using particle flow and something else, the thing is shoot an iluminate when shoot.
excuse my confusing english :P
thanks

one thing you can do is ...
put an omni light on the muzzle of the gun and link it there... whenever the gun supposedly "fires"... turn the omni light one for 1 frame then shut it off the next frame. This creates a gun flash that lights up objects around it... but don't make it too bright.
For the actual flash of gun fire... you can create a simple cylinder primitive, put a ton of faces on it, thrown on a noise modifier so you can wrinkle it up so it looks like a random, noisy thing. Then shink it down really tiny so you can't see it, then when your gun "fires" animate it expanding to the size of the gun fire, then the next frame shink it down super tiny so you can't see it anymore.
With each shot, animate the noise modifier so it looks a little different with each gun shot. You can even throw a self-illumination on it so it kinda glows.
Know i'm gpoing to try your formula, the omni was something tha i think too, but the cilinder surpriseme totally, great idea. thanks again.
see you
and a great tip for me!
