Crazy man, THAT IS AMAZING !
Please tell me what is this music?
And how soft your used maya, max ?
Music: is from Bajo fondo Tango Club, and the song name is Montserrat.
software: Mainly Maya and LW, in general I use LW for modeling and sometimes for rendering.
and Maya for animation, particles, and mental ray for rendering.
I used MDD (point oven)to transfer animation from LW to MAYA and MAYA to LW
I used LW to render the particles from Maya with Hyper voxels
Thanks for the feed Back

any other words than great, awsome and astonishing would be misused....
though i dont like the music the visual part is astonishing.
you must bee an escapee, am i right?
ps: when i heard that the davinci was full of visual effects, i had always wondered where they were since thats not properly action or sci-fi... now i know. and makes me feel stupid as hell.

Awesome demoreel.
That's some amazing work, and most of those shots I thought were made by entire teams. Now I find out it was made by you alone. Did you model the whole Atlantis city? How many polygons are in that city, I was always curios.

Impressive CV
Wow the cathedral... I am going to see again the movie... I was thinking it was a real background to composite with actors in green background, but It is totally CG!!!

I would also like to know exactly what you did in those scenes, if it were you alone or a team more of?
The demo reel makes it look like you were the only one behind all those shots, especially for people who doesn't know what being a lead technical director is about. Cheerios. :arteest:

Obviosuly this is highest quilty material, but I dont quite see the point in showing the reel unless you tell us specifically which pats are your work.
I'm not entirely certain what a technical director does, so I don't know what to congratulate you for.

Like others I`d like to point out your reel could be considered misleading untill you describe your part in the shots.
TD may mean you just did camera matching - it may mean you did none of the modelling - perhaps you did all the modelling - who knows?
No point saying "I used MAYA"

The number of people working on the shots would depent on the project.
this is not 1 man project, I had to do a lot of the work but not all the work is done for me.
I will explain more in depht soon, I gotta go right now :buttrock:

wow... that's totally incredible...
i liked the mouse, at the beginning i didn't recognised its not real, of course til it started "playing" with Nintendo, or whatever that was...
i have a question if i may...
the shot from davinchi code, u show ware frame of Church interior, is it just a "dummy" mesh, like for fast viewing? i mean the capitels(top part of pillar) (if that's English word) of pillars where very detailed, but in were frame those look like dummies, is it correct, or u did some miracles with displacement or smth? would be hard to believe...

Hey Jose, stick to soccer o.k.?! Kidding. The mouse steals the show. But hey, I'd do the same thing in a maze, all by myself with nothing to hump but a usb slot. So are you looking to move on to bigger things these days or just posting your reel for feedback?

it is an excellent piece of art you present here.
What do you use for modeling ? Maya? Max?
By advance thanks.

Great work Jose! It was a pleasure working with you at Rainmaker. You not only have talent but you're the uber-technical directing-all rounder! Killer editing on the reel too. And for you all who are asking, Jose may not have done specifically everything in each shot but I'm sure that's the case for some of these...TD's can call shots their own since they have their hand is most of it.
Good luck on your killer next project...arrrgh matey ;)

The work is amazing. As others have said, I would really dig seeing a shot breakdown as well as a little more detail on your involvement and perhaps a little "making of" to see how you pulled off such great effects on some choice shots. Don't take it as negative, however, just thirsting for more knowledge and to see more of your thought process. Great editing and music choice by the way...

It's nice to see top caliber CG work. I mean, except for the robots, you would never have guessed what you're looking at was CG. Combined with the excellent camerawork this stuff is amazing. I will be watching for more fantastic productions from you. Thanks for sharing your reel.

Don J!! :D Felicidades!!!
Congratulations!!! Excellent work you've achieved. The little mouse! jaja
Felicidades, en serio,

Congratulations, that's a very nice variety of high-quality work - your showreel goes in my "inspiration" folder!
Out of curiousity, about how much time would you say you spend experimenting/R&D before for effects versus how long it takes once you have the look you are trying to acheive? I know it would vary from project to project, but it's something I'm always curious to hear.

Good question, as you said, it depends on how technical the project is and how much time you have.
For the water for example, was hard to find the line between RND and real project.
I normally start doing RND on a shot and slowly start building geometry for final approach.
If is a new project where you don’t know how to do, I would say 75% RND and 25% finishing the project.
If you already know how to do it , I would say you should expend some RND time to upgrade the techniques maybe 25%.
Thanks for all the feed back, is good to know what the people think about the Demo Reel
