drunkirishmic 02-14-2003, 09:26 AM im a newb comin from max. from what i see, its pretty nice, the workflow is really nice. i have one small question: in max there is a simple way of instancing and mirroring an object. i.e. mirroring a box for creating a head, so the other half mirrors everything u do to the first half.
not i kno u can scale the object -1 in maya, but this seems a little primative. is there no scipt or tool that does this?

that's raw - not primitive - and there are a lot of scripts for mirroring and stuff on highend3d.com

What you are looking for is under the polygons menu....but the method of duplicate as an instance and scale it -1 is really the easiest and least complicated method....if you use proxy mesh...you can even duplicat an instance of the smoothed proxy and -1 scale it...model on the low poly cage half and watch the hi res full version update in realtime...
