I may be beginning a project that requires me to do animation (never animated before). Basically it s going to be a character that is basically cut from paper and moves similarly tothe gingerbread man from Shrek. This project may cover the purchase of a new software especially for or secializing in character animation. SO I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions or advice? I dont have a real long amount of time to go out and try each one out there so I was hoping to put a small list to gether from suggestions here then try those and make a purchase from there (feels more educated to start with the pros then go from there).

Things I am looking for in it.

Not so steep learning curve.
Training for the product is available or at least a responsive community

If you dont have a product to recommend some advice or tips would be great. PLease no flame wars. I am lookng to make the purchase with the next few weeks, so this would help me tremendously (also I am familiar with and own LW 8.5, but want to take this opportunity to explore some new realms).

Thanks
