correct me if Im wrong, but it says in the discreet article that star wars was mostly made with XSI SoftImage.

Huh? You mean that the Softimage press release says that. All the Discreet press release says is that those movies used their software for some compositing. It doesn't even claim that they were used as the sole compositing software/systems. The rest of the press release simply says what those movies are about.

Big whoop! Does it mention that Esso provided most of the fuel for the vehicles for the artists to get to work? (that's how silly software bragging has become) Software is software. Cool stuff is done using all different packages.
