View Full Version : How animate tube Extrusion in Maya?
falsomagro 12-08-2006, 02:27 PM Anybody can help me?
I tried to animate a simple tube extrusion of a profile curve on along a path curve, but, it has not a lenght value like distance extrusion, so i don't know how to animate the progression of the extrusion.
Thx.

when you set up your extrusion:
1)Make sure Construction History is ON (it's the little scroll-looking button near the render button)
2)Select the 2 curves to be used in the extrusion, open the extrude option box
3)Set curve range to "partial"...
4)Select the new extruded object, and look over in the SHAPES box on the right, you should see something like this:
INPUTS
nurbsTessellate1
extrude1
subCurve1
subCurve2
5)Click one of the subCurves and it will give you min and max values.
Play with these to find the extrusion controller. If it isn't the first subCurve, try the next one. These subcurves can be animated, set to expressions, etc.
