Keiser Sosse 02-14-2003, 03:57 AM This is a model i've been working on for the last few weeks. I'm really happy with the results this far, but I think some constructive criticism could go a long way.
Thanks, Keiser.:buttrock:

nice going on this. i do think however that the arms are a little too exaggerated. i can see this is the style you are going for. but maybe try them a little smaller. and enlarge his legs just a little bit. not much, just look to small as they are. but looks like a sturdy piece of modelling youve got there.

I think it looks okay but I'll have to agree that chest and arms are too exaggerated.

:xtreme: I don't know what everyone is talking about, I think the model is great, I love the exaggerated arms. It makes it look really buff. Have you ever thought about animating the character. You clould really have a lot of fun with the character. Keep up the good work! :airguitar

@garyturner: this is quite a stupid comment!!! next time it woulde be better to say nothing, than to to say NOTHING!
@kaiser: for me the model looks a little unbalanced (in proportions) i can only repeat what others said befor me: sclae down he arms alittle or scale up the legs.
but hey, he is the little brother of the HULK and that alone is worth a five star rating!!!:buttrock:

I think the exaggeration is FAR too much in this. It looks exceedingly awkward + impractical. Also a lot of the geometry seems too smooth, I'd work on defining some of the creases/edges a bit more. I'd also double check some of the anatomy on the muscle shapes.

aside from not really being an original character.. Id have to agree that if you're having a huge exaggerated upper body, there needs to be exaggerated muscle definition.

Dude it just looked like you scaled up parts the upper body. You can body parts extra big but they have to work with the rest of the body.
Example popeye the sailor. Has huge forearms:surprised
I think your dude looks cool but work on making it all work together:buttrock:
Keep working on it man!

I guess i agree with everyone else here about the proportions. It seems that everythings there, and if you just toned down the scale of the upper body i think you would have a pretty solid looking model.
What did you use to model it, by the way. I'd say lightwave, but i could be wrong.:)

There's a fine line between exaggeration and going too far. This is going too far. If you want to exaggerate, it still has to be within the realm of reality, and those arms are about 2-2.5 times longer than a normal man's. Even an ape's arms aren't that long. Maybe that's the way you picture it, and I won't crap on your ideas, but when people are mistaking your modeling for a screw up (i.e. scaled the upperbody too much) that means that you want to do it over again.
My advice would be to take some spheres and position them where you believe the limbs should go, and "rough out" your volumes. The hulk would be like a beachball with big arms and stubby, muscular legs (as in the comic). Go for that. Also, take a look at the comics and some anatomy books. You must have an understanding of the mechanics of the human body before you want to model characters. Bones, muscle, skin. That's how we're made, and that's what you should be thinking each step of the way. Good huntin'...

i totaly disagree. The HULK is not a beachball. Actually i'm not really fond of the stubby Hulk. The movie coming out has the Hulk up to about 15 feet, which is awesome but i keep hearing the same thing. Noone is happy with the face...
Oh yeah, about this model, it's hard to tell what the style is. In the end it does look like the upper half is just scaled up. I would start by bringing the rest of the body up to the right proportions starting with the hips.

TOKYOOOO! EVERYBODY! thats the way, thats the way its gonna be yeaaaahh, the earth verses meee. Try making it look like his hugs wouldnt be life threatening but just uncomfortable. Man, he'd suck at bruhsing his teeth.

I know the beachball thing is oversimplifying Hulk's shape, but that's the way he's supposed to look (at least according to the guy who created him.) Every iteration of the Hulk I've seen has stuck to these proportions. He's very topheavy and apelike, but I stick to my last post. So nyaaah! :p
