5 days is not bad going for a scene which looks that good.

The only thing I dislike is the sky, those clouds don't seem to match either the scale or the perspective of the rest of the scene. Also, to my mind the horizon idoesn't look correct. Those rocks look really rough and pitted but the horizon line looks really smooth, like you adjusted it by painting over it when you comped it.

Good work all the same though.

wow. thanks guys. I still have to re-render and composite some of the stuff-including the sky, it somehow got scaled down in a sleepiness blunder-hence the weird sky effect. Good eye, I noticed that too-after. :)

when I get the final renders and compositing done, I will put the animation up on my site. Thanks for the feedback!

It is just the sky I would say and it colors the moon,
so he looks kinda transparent. But I guess he isn't :)

A big WOW to Iain for things I never would have
noticed

well the moon isnt really transparent, but since the moon is seen through the atmosphere of the planet, the color will come from that atmosphere. If the moon is visible during day hours, it appears transluscent, gathering the sky color. Even so, youre assuming that this is on earth and realistic. I was going for something that just had cool imagery in it.

Well any normal person would assume that as well, potential employers included. So unless you explain before/after hand that this is planet X etc... :o

looks good man. the trees in the foreground look a little sharp around the edges, but im pretty sure thats just the jpeg compression. how many passes did you do of the model? what resolution did you work at?

thanks beej!model is super light. The building is surface modeled. when I have time I will throw up the wire. Trees are all cards with an aim constraint at the camera. Texture rez is between 256x256 and 512x512 since its a far shot. I rendered it in 10 passes and composited it in after effects.

Great work davpunk! What program and rendering engine did you use?

Are the trees created with particle system or what?
