Man, I apologize for asking so many questions - but you all have been real helpful, this is a real nice community. I'm doing my best to search the forums and the 'net before I ask when possible, trust me. :) I am digging XSI quite a bit though, and I believe I am going to buy it when my demo runs out.

Anyway, I wanted to do a rotoscope tute, and I found one on the edharriss site, but it won't play due to a codec error. I can't seem to locate any others. Does anyone know of any rotoscoping tutes?

This possibly might be covered in the XSI books I just ordered, but I won't see them for a bit so I figured I'd ask.

Thanks

Hi. There's a plugin on xsibase for setting up image planes. I personally don't like rotoscope (except when I was doing a scene that I needed to view the bg and animate characters on top of it. And that worked well cause it was full frame, matching my camera.)

If you want to "key" out the alpha, use the realtime opengl shader found under More.. AlphaTrans. You can also put them in their own group/layer to control visibility/selectability. And set the display to realtime (And make sure the overide is nonchecked in the viewport).

There's doesn't seem to be such a plug in there that I can find, at least not on this page

http://www.xsibase.com/tools/plugins.php

However, JDex shows you how to create an image grid in this post (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=1958019&postcount=4), which is what I am going to try.

HTH

Here's a thread on xsibase - I think the way I listed is the fastest/easiest way to do it..
http://www.xsibase.com/forum/index.php?board=16;action=display;threadid=28069;start=12

And here's the link I was thinking of (never used it).. Sorry, it's a script, not a plugin.. http://www.xsibase.com/scripts/modeling.php?detail=1273

Hello ! If you want a real funky way of setting your image planes up in XSI have a look at this. Go to the XSI tuts section and its named rotoscope techniques in XSI. A really cool AVI tutorial.
