perham3d 12-06-2006, 12:18 PM Im needing the best idea to keep a firegl v5100 cool? my puter is too noisy atm and its annoying when im trying to sleep. I dont wanna have to spend loads on watercooling so are their any fans out there to cool my gfx card and therfore quiet? i gotta cpu cooler on the way thats quiet so i dont need to worry bout that anymore.
any help would be great :D

"cool your gfx card and therefore quiet"... not neccesarily, since active coolers (fans) are what generates most of the noise in the first place. You could probably find an aftermarket cooler for that card that's quieter, but you'll have a hard time killing the sound with any sort of fan installed - there are coolers which only rely on a heatsink, but I'm not sure for which cards and/or how safe is this with your particular card.
Any particular reason for your system to be on while you're sleeping? If this is common (i.e. you often render at night, or download stuff etc.) you might consider getting that computer out of the room you're sleeping in, having it on next to you every night can be bad for your health, mostly because of the noise. Sure, you'll get used to it and will eventually be able to sleep next to the noise, but it still won't be that healthy, quality sleep - for that you need quiet.
