View Full Version : Neo Angel || in flux
so_hi 02-13-2003, 08:18 PM This is a model that I have been neglecting for to long.
I am now starting to texturing her, as well as refine the model.
http://members.shaw.ca/cosmicclock/content/images/headColH.jpghttp://members.shaw.ca/cosmicclock/content/images/headColI.jpg
This is the latest body shot.
http://members.shaw.ca/cosmicclock/content/images/NeoAngel/upperRcolO.jpg
I have only really started texturing her head, the rest is just base shaders. Hence the hue difference from the head to the body.
I am going for a stylelized reality.
Constructive Crit is always welcome.
Hope you enjoy.
E.
P.s. I know her lips and breasts are big. http://www.cgchannel.com/mvnplugin/mvnforum/images/emotion/wink.gif

that is beyond cool. Kind of sexy in it's bizarre proportions. Great job, the high quality model cancels out the low quality viewing standards, hehe. What you might call it. :D

hehe.. think ive seen her before.. at xsibase i think ??
love the stylized look, with the exagerrated proportions.something somehow doesnt look right at the corners of the mouth and the eyes.. looks like there is some sharp corners or something

Dr BeN: Yes it is Xsi. She will be animated, don't you worry.
She is all polys with geo approximation turn up to 2, I don't really know what kind of things you are looking for. Describe some things and I would be glad to oblige.
Aerestis: Thanks. I really what to have a clearly defined style, I am glad to see I am reaching people.
Stimpy: The problem on the eyes is I think the texture map on the eyelashes it ends at a hard edge I am trying to rectifiy it. I may change from a geo approach to hair (I don't want to though).
As for the mouth I like it as it is. Yes you have seen her before on The Base I have posted her on every forum I am on (my avitar is different there). Thanks for Compliments and crit.

Mmm... Very nice
As others have said, the exaggerated features look really good, I think mainly because you haven't overdone it; it's still fairly well proportioned.
I agree the corners of the lips could do with some tweaking, and, although I'm pretty sure you haven't finished with the texturing, I think the eyes need to be more "glassy."
Keep it up

Wow she is soooo creamy looking! =) Very nice body, and clothing, I think the bottom lip could be reduced by 10%, but I like the over blown proportions. You have a great style going with this model!
Angeline Jolie is on the house:D
thatīs a nice piece man!!i like the way you made her..the head sort of cartoon and the body more like a.......realistic/cartoonish exagerated (i specially like that..hehehe...just kidding),really good.....do you already have an ideia for animation??
so_hi
02-14-2003, 01:15 AM
oracle:Thanks. That is what I always keep in mind with 3d. I find that 3d adds ten fold to any stylization. I have been wrestling with the eyes I had full reflections, environment maps and all and they looked really weird. I am looking into how to get them looking wet, you know those high white spec hits.
sinthetic: Thanks. I like the lip as it is but, thanks for the crit.
knoxville: It is alright to like it you just shouldn't LIKE it. Heh heh. She is the main character for my short. Hence there is plenty of ideas nothing really concrete yet though. I am concentrating on getting her modeling and texturing done after that the hugh job of rigging, then animation will start. Lots of sword play probably though.
Thanks Again All.

Could you post a wireframe pic of the cage for the mesh? I'm curious to see the structure of the eges + such on the model.

Looks quite nice, I like how your edges are used correctly for the most part to create the anatomy (such as the muscles along the shoulder). I'd love to see this rigged + animated, I'm sure it could be done fairly easily due to the logical structure of the edges. One thing that bothers me a tad though is some of the concentration of the edges, is this a pre-mesh smooth cage or post? If it's pre, are those lines of edges close to each other really neccessary to get the shape you are looking for? I can see doing so on things like a crease due to the way that the smoothing of the mesh works, but on something that is relatively anamorphous compared to a crease it is a bit uneccessary.
Keep us up to date as you work on this, I'd like to see how it turns out in the end.

mohh:Thanks.
blindsleeper:Thanks. There is no need I am always glad to share.
LPlasma:First thanks. As for the concentratons of edges I am not sure what you are talking about. If it is pertaining to the gloves the concentration has to do with modeled details (seams). I tend to like to model any details that I possibly can. If it is something else you will have to be more specific. Thanks again for the reply.

I highlighted the edges I was reffering to here. Seems uneeded to get the shape you're going for, this is just nitpicking of course. The top finger doesn't have as high of a concentration of edges on its top edge, but the shape is similar, so I was just unsure of wether or not those other lines of edges were neccessary.

http://members.shaw.ca/cosmicclock/content/images/NeoAngel/GloveA.jpg
You see I modelled the panels of the glove. The index finger on a glove does not have a seam on the outside, check next time you pick up a pair. I really don't like having to use displacements.
Hope this clears it up for you.
IDownupI: That is too funny! Are you talking about the surfacing of the eyes, the size? You need to be a little more specific. Thanks though.

i think the thumb is too moulded and it's seams that she (i suppose it's a woman's hand) could lose her glove in a single wind blow...
LPlasma
02-16-2003, 10:57 PM
I see what you mean, but to me it just seems uneccessary to put details like that into modeling instead of the bump maps/texture work. If that's what you're going for it's fine, but a lot of the time it's simpler to handle the model if fine details like that which are never really seen close up are done in other ways. I mean it looks nice and you can do it, just a personal preference. Also yeah, the thumb seems to taper a bit too much where it goes into the hand, I'd thicken that up a tad.

Not bad at all! I really like the hips/stomach/thigh area. Great work. Same with the upr back/shoulders.
I really don't like making/looking at models in the T-pose and stopped modelling like that a few years ago. (Although I had to do it again for my lastest project due a number of factors) It's a wierd standard that someone came up with that relates to nothing. :thumbsdow
I recommend sculpting it with the arms down or at least at a 45 degree angle. Considering a model will have their arms down most of the time, it isn't really practical. And it if you're doing it to help with the weighting, do the 45 degree thing as that's the true "middle" or equadistant position between extremes.
I don't really like the face much, but it's a style thing more then anthing else.
Buttom line, is that you gots some skillz, and having her and sexy in the same sentence wouldn't shock me a bit.

Well Finally got some time to work on angel again.
She always was supposed to have the leg prostetics.
So here they are. The clear parts are supposed to be a solid rubber like substance.
http://members.shaw.ca/cosmicclock/content/images/NeoAngel/fullColP.jpghttp://members.shaw.ca/cosmicclock/content/images/NeoAngel/fullColO.jpghttp://members.shaw.ca/cosmicclock/content/images/NeoAngel/lowerF.jpg
I am very close to finished with the modeling, and hope to be back to texturing again soon.
nanabaky:Yes I agree the thumb needs alittle work. The gloves are short for style, and it is cg I am pretty sure they will stay on.
Raideen:Thanks for the compliment. I really like Battlechasers.
RmachucaA:Yes it is xsi.
Digital Magi:I really strive for style, Thanks for noticing.

Hey, Hellwolve... Some would call you shallow for thinking a woman this beautiful was less attractive just because she has a prosthetic (or two) :p
Anyway... It's been a while since I checked on this model, and it's looking really good. It's really good to see her from the back  Those panties are tiny! I'm looking for things to crit... Nope, can't see anything

the problem i have is that the prostetic looks too much like a human bone. it looks as if you were looking at her own bones, which makes it a bit macabre....
maybe a different design of the mechanism inside her leg would portray the idea in a different manner.
my 2 cents.

Hey, looks awesome man! The only thing I would change would be the eyes and lips, they seem too big. (my personal taste) The eyes more so then the lips. But Judging from the rest of the body, it was obviously intended and it goes with the style. I love the attention to detal, like the straps on the back, and how the skin slightly folds over them. Excellent work, please keep it updated!
