I have not really kept up with the development of Maxwell, are there any examples of rendered animations with it?

cheers

In classic NextLimit style the 3ds Max plugin is all F'd up.....
The Cinima 4d guys have it a little better.

The Maya guys are the only ones that are happy.

The max plugin was an early post which had material preview not completed... but it's ok now. (A new update will be posted Thursday)

All three plugin offer the same workflow possibilities.
Maya people are happy because it's like Maya should be,
Cinema4D people are almost happy because it's allmost like it should be in a Cinema4D workflow... but some max people are unhappy because it is like max and not like the old maxwell plugin workflow anymore.

I used maxwell with maya a lot and render times are not at all so scary if you do not fill your scene with library arch objects with severel thousands of polygons for a bulb... x bulbs on a lamp ... x lamps in a room and so on...

Jonatan from Keytoon helped a lot with the max plugin development and had the most value able feedback... and he renders succesfully animations with maxwell ... and is ready with many of them...

What people are upset about is that NL is treating everyone like we are Beta testers. For many of us that was true but isn't any longer.

Releasing things that aren't ready just angers people when it's done over and over and over. Nobody would have argued if the "completed" version came out on thursday without this shabby placeholder.

BTW material preview is not the only problem...

I love Maxwell Alpha version. It's all the b.s. that NL has put us thru since alpha that is the real issue and this is yet another example that they are contuning the same block headed actions.

Many people assked to use an early version. So it was better to release it today and until Thursday have also the reported bugs repaired.

Some want to look at it angry ... some are happy to see things moving.
I hope this anger will start going away after seeing that things move fast.

Of course there will be always something to complain about.
We have feedback from a lot of people like Jonatan that the current plugin in this early stage improves workflow comparing to the old one.

This is an old story you can find about any software. If Maya, XSI, Windows, Mental Ray, 3D Studio Max and so on. There are always people unhappy.
Development goes on and some can't stand it anymore and some are just happy with new results.

There were many hours/man work in the last 3 months and I did not start this thread to get into the usuall maxwell forum fight.

All I can say is that new possibilities were created and none of the old ones are currently missing... so people will test the new plugins and will like them or not.

"New Maxwell render plug-ins now available ( 3DMax 7, 8 and 9 (Windows))"

Villinizing the person complaining is very effective.

I simply suggest that I personaly am not NLs Beta tester. Don't throw me a bone!

We early adopters have been subjected to this many times. It was forgivible the first one or two times.

Yes, yes everybody has people complaining at them so please everyone look away when someone does it :deal:

M~R is a great product. Keep making it better and for Gods sake make the marketing better as well!

My frustration with the 3ds Max plugin was a disappointment. I did none the less look at Mverta's Maya videos. Even though all I can be right now is envious, M~R looks fun again.

(NL please don't release the 3ds Max plugin until it is that polished. I'm tired of being frustrated.)

Mverta's video is very close to being a great selling tool for M~R. NL needs to put it together a bit and offer it along with the demo thru some one click ads on various web sites.

So after seeing what NL is up to with the Maya plugin I have hope for the Max plugin. So I'll just model some stuff in silence while I wait for a proper release of my plugin :)

Hope at he end of the tunnel!
