Hey, (again ;)

First of all, let me just say that I really really appreciate your time, effort and patience with my constant onslaught of questions. I promise I'll show off the fruits of my (and your :)) efforts as soon as there's something to show :)

Anyway, the question is: When you're doing a walkcycle how do you make sure that the start and end positions are exactly the same?

In my case I have to actually move the model, so I'm guessing there's some neat trick for copying and pasting rotations on the joints or something? But then what about the IK stuff?

Hey Eudaimic,

If you create a character group for all your channels (including IK handle translation, twist pole vector, finger rolls, etc), you should be able to copy and paste all the keys for the character group and so ensure your poses are the same.

to get the walk "cycle" effect you should have your character walking in the same place, with the first and last keyframe being exactly the same. Make sure the character takes two full steps (1 complete cycle) so that it's repeatable. Start by copying the first pose to the last keyframe, just right-click on the timeline and select "copy..." and go to the last frame and right-click "paste" then just add the in-between frames. Hope it helps

you can select your object to keyframe, move the time line to the last frame of your cycle with your middle mouse button, and make a keyframe, by moving the time line with your middle mouse button, you ask maya to not refresh the dependency graph, so the objects don`t move, and you`r sure it`s the same pose ;)
