View Full Version : Maya 4.5 OS X Help!!!
Elliotjnewman 02-13-2003, 01:30 PM I was wondering if anyone could help me, I am trying to find the folder /var/flexlm but I can't seem to locate it (this is in OS X.2). I have made an alias of this folder in my favourites and when I click for information to see what its original location is it says 'Macintosh HD:Private:var:flexlm' but when I go into macintosh HD I cant find the folder 'private' even when I do a search. its like its invisable because when I try and create a folder called private it says 'cannot create folder 'private' because that name already exists, choose another one'
Can anyone help me locate this folder???
Cheers, elliot.

the /var folder, like most unix related folders, are hidden in X by default. You can access it via the terminal.

download tinkertool:
http://www.bresink.de/osx/TinkerTool2.html
After you install it, the tinkertool control panel has a "show hidden files" option.

you could use the "Go to Folder" command in the "Go" menu and type in /var/ in the dialog box. POOF, the var folder pops up. Here, you should see your flexlm folder. You might have to get permissions on this, but to do that, you just have to right click on the folder and get info, then check the permissions area.
