10/12-06: UPDATE:

Hi guys
Firstly, I have done another edition of the car. The basemesh is the same so no wires this time around;

And on the original I have changed the boxes on top and scaled down the pattern of the seats:

So do you like the new version or has it not improved the model?

Thanks in advance :)

ORIGINAL POST:

Hi there

I have worked on this car for quite a long time (way too long in fact). The car is losely based on the Yugo Zastava 750.

OLD Screengrabs from the maya viewport:

http://www.januskirk.com/upload/car/car_v1_2.jpg
http://www.januskirk.com/upload/car/car_v1_3.jpg
http://www.januskirk.com/upload/car/car_v1_4.jpg
http://www.januskirk.com/upload/car/car_v1_5.jpg

As you can see its 4395 triangles, has 1*2048+1*1024 diffuse, spec and normal map. There are quite a few details you cannot see in the screenies such as full interior and working doors but you'll have to wait to see them till I get this model ingame at some point ;)

To help understanding why the model looks as it does it is worth mentioning it is thought to belong in a rather absurd "Planet of The Apes" inspired gangster world... yeah I know its far out :D

But as always; comments and crits are much appreciated.

Cheers :)

wow this is really nice, great job. I like the rust on the paint very believable.

That texturework is outstanding. Sound topology, too. I can't pick any fault with it. I'm very surprised your post has only received a small number of comments.

Good work

Hey dude, good to see you posting more work.

It's looking great, loads of nice details. Can't fault the model, either.

Don't see it getting very far with a banana in the exhaust, though ;)

Thanks guys, really glad to hear you like it :)

Happy to hear you think the texturing is acceptable as this really is an area where I struggled a lot in the past.

I will also do a version in a different color with different dents and stuff so I can use them both in an environment I am planning.

I have also started modelling a chimp gangster to go along with it all as well so I am keeping myself busy :)

wow this is amazing. great texture work! the only thing i can really crit is the silhouette on the edges of the windows seems a bit chunky, maybe add some more edges in there to round em out, the car is still under 5k right now . looks amazing!

Great work, the one thing that jumps out at me, and is minor, is the text on the wood crate on the top of the car.....looks just too photoshoped to me. looks cool other than that!

Nice work! I think the box on top is a bit too dark and solid and the funky seat covers should have the pattern scaled down a touch but those are minor points. It's a really fun car!

This is great stuff U show us in here.
I really dig it. Cool colors, nice details. Personally I'll add only an open front and doors to see more. Good feature will be modelled and textured engine.
Coll work.
