Hi !

for max5.1

i'm wondering if there's anyway to render a scene without any
'real' source of lighting, resulting shadows and lighlights on objects.

for example, usually when u did a low poly character for a game,
u port the model into the engine and the 'shadows and lighting'
on the character all depends on the texture u created.
'fake' light source. while the overall char's brightness is lit by
other means.

it would be useful if u can 'preview' the appearance of your char
in like those game environments while u're working on the model in max. A preview that won't show the shadows and highlight like in normal render in max.

is there any way ?? plugin ? script ? external program to export to for preview ? (like in a game environment)

i couldn't find anything so far ...

thanx !!

if you want to see the environment of your game WITHOUT any kind of illumination, you can always set ALL the scene materials' Self Illuimination do 100%. This will help you to watch the geometry and textures without any illumination.

Howdy !

wouldn't it be "Render to Texture" you're looking for ? create your character, light it the way you want, then bake that lighting setup in your character's maps upon rendering: you'll get lighted textures, that you can then remap on your character, and then delete your lights, see the effects without any lights on...
