hey guys im working on a project and i wanted to get info on how to do snow in max. i wanted to do ice crystals that resemble those in the movie ice age. if u have any idea's please reply.

1. well just use a particle system (read about it in the manual)
2. create an opacity map that resembles those crystals in photoshop or your favorite 2d app ;)
3. map those onto the particle system (check 'face map' in the material editor)

should work..

If you can check out 3D World Magazine Issue 29. It has a 3d max tutorial in it and how they did the beginning of ice age and you can use as reference to make your crystals and textures too. The cd that comes with the book also has the files and textures on it.

Neil Blevins has some great tutorials on his site. I've used this snow before. It sparkels differently from different angles. Real slick.

i wanted to know where can i get a subscription of the magazine .

this post rocks.

i wanted to know is anyone any thought on how to do final fantasy like texture and stuff i have another game project coming up and as u can tell learning is continous so any advise is apprecited
