View Full Version : wierd shadow Issues... Pissing me off
Mangled Poly 02-13-2003, 05:22 AM Ok guys heres the issue,
How come when i do a single frame render with image viewer the shadow shows just fine... But when i do my animation no shadows show up in it at all... ?
Im using motion blur 25% with shadow maps, and shading noise on... with divx codec (5.02)
I have done single renders on multiple frames in different places of the animations, that all show shadows...

If the problem only happens when you render an animation, then you could just render it out as frames instead, and compile them in After FX or another program of that kind.

Render frames instead.
I never used to do it but its all I do now.
Those codecs can realy screw up things, divx is a big time cause of these things.
Get Aura to compile, its very fast.

To see how something should look, you should render sequences and then compile.
For finals, it's a good idea because you then have a pristine sequence that you can then compile and turn into an animation for the Avid, for Final Cut, Toaster, DVD, web, etc. It takes a couple of minutes to turn your sequence into any of those choices. Not so if you rendered for web and now need it for video.

you can even compile in LW. Just load up your image sequence into an empty layout and make it your background. Set resolution to whatever (works to resize animations too), leave AA off, define the start and end frames, save animation as avi, then render your movie.
Ummm I guess that could be said more efficiently, point is it's an easy and quick way to preview anims that are rendered out sequences.
