View Full Version : WIP: Character - Neen
Jagger 02-13-2003, 05:04 AM Hello,
This is a character I'm currently working on for my demo reel.
As u can tell she is no where near done, but I’m finally happy enough with the model that I’m willing to show it to others :p
Eventually she’s is going to be textured and fully rigged, and if time allows a short animation.
The hair needs more definition, and who could forget the lighting :) ill get it one day.
Any ways tell me what you think, ill post some updates tomorrow. Hopefully by then ill have the pants modeled and the tank top finished so I can start unwrapping. Perhaps ill even have some decent lights set up, but don’t quote me on that.

I knew i should have been paying attention when they were showing us how to make simple web pages instead of working on this model... ohh well.
Im not exactly sure whats wrong here maby the index?
but if you just copy and past the link:
http://www.geocities.com/at47g/maya/Neen_01.jpg
in your address bar, it should work, well it does for me any ways. (do NOT click directly on the link)
Dont understand it, but if you go to the site manualy and go back to cgtalk the link will work, but if u close your browser down it stops working again.

Didn't get Neen_01 - so maybe I'm doing something wrong - I did manage to see Neen_a2! And now I want to see Neen_01! She looks great! Can't really fault the anatomy apart from the ear looking a bit low. I think the clothing could hug the body a bit more - particularly the shoulder/neck strap, but that should be easy to modify. Hairstyle is good too.
Well done!

The image is magical. I thought we already established this? In order to see the image you must be MAGIC! See? Magical.

P.S. Try copying and pasting the direct link address provided earlier, into your web browser. That might require magic as well, you never know with jagger. Him and his silly magical pictures. mm.. magic.

The other links didn't work because it's linked from Geocities. Geocities doesn't allow remote linking. That's why the copy paste works or you could just drag the link to the address bar. Best way is to just rename the file when your logged into geocities from .jpg to .txt then post the .txt :) Just a little trick.
Hope that helped.
Ps. I've got friends that live in Calgary! :)

heres a small update.
http://members.shaw.ca/k_jagger/Neen_b1.jpg
Should have had more work done but i had some trouble with the lighting, took 3 hours before i realized some of my normals got reversed, damn normals :shame:
Now that i look again i think the shirt still needs to be tighter, dont remember the breast's being that big.

She's coming along nicely! The tummy seems to stick out in a slightly weird way but that shouldn't be too difficult to sort out. The shirt is definitely looking a lot better than it was when it was floating around her. Well done! :applause:

Ill post another update later today, but for now i just have a question.
I want to keep the head seperate from the body for blend shape purposes, but the trouble with that is the texture edge betwen the head and the body. Now iv been told this is due to the way Maya lighting works (2 objects get lit diferently by the same light source) But i cant imagine every one giving their characters a neckles or turtle neck shirt to hide this seam.
So is it possible to keep the head geometry seperate but lose the texture seam?
