Animation/composite test, to see if I could realize a realistic shot in one night. Conceived at 6PM to final comp at 6:30 AM, including one crash that wiped out about an hour and a half of voxel tweaks.

Comped in AfterEffects to add grain, titles and softness, to blend the layers together and to bury the static grain that would betray the background as a still.

DiVX 5.0.2 (2 MB in size)

Alien attack over Fermilab (http://www.altyna.com/examples/fermilab.avi)

Image used is from the Fermilab web site, which has tons of huge, top quality images and references for machinery, etc. don't recall the URL, but I know I got it from Flay.

Wow! That's awesome! I live about 15 minutes from Fermilab when I'm not at school, definitely a cool place, and nice to know if WW III comes around, I'll be one of the first to go cuz of that proximity. LOL! This comp is amazing and spectacular all rolled into one. Did you model, texture, and animate all that in one night? Or just animate and comp?

WOW!!!

It's hard to see the difference between live action video and this static background. I like it :bounce: Kudos

And you said it's only a nights work for you??? Hummzz then i still have a lot to learn to speed up my workflow

WhiteRabbit.obj: animate and comp only, the alien ship and choppers already existed.

ee01akk2, it's simply two Hypervoxel explosions, one after the other, the second set to be bigger and "hotter" than the first. Local density gradients on FBM hypertexture. I finally made the HV3 breakthrough while working on that shot, now I'm trying to come up with some other scene that justified mucho explosions. The key I was missing in the past, was modulating the density.

I'm trying to think up a sequel right now.

looks great, everything matches very well. The explosion looks belivable as well. I am happy to see the alien craft was not just a sauser :)

its cool, altho i think the other 2 helicopters would be pushed away more by the shockwave.

Thanks for the feedback, all!

There's some more "story" in the next shot:
