I'm looking to pick up some decent reading material on character rigging. I use XSI but any generic books out there wud help as well. I'm riggin a cartoon style character and have no idea how to implement things like stretchy limbs to my rig?!

Does anyone have any recommendations on anything?

thx:)

here is another book/DVD that I have purchased and been going through here receintly...

http://cgtoolkit.com/book1.htm

really indepth explainations of everything...

the book is written for Maya... but the guy goes into so much detail as to 'why' he's doing what he is doing I have been having NPWSE (No Problem what so ever) with setting up the same things in XSI...

This guy really breaks the ice on combineing Rigging and scripting to get your character to do what cha want...

I guess I'm a little amazed cause the book is still sort of new... but I have alot of books on XSI and Lightwave and this one is the best book I have purchased for any program ever!

well geuss I let my fan boy side out a bit too much ... but yah it's pretty darn good...

I'll agree with norvman about the CG Tool Kit Series. I've been reading Vol. 1 for about a week now and I've got to say ... dang. I've learned so much in such little time. The Book is easy to follow and goes into a good amount of detail on how to so some of the common techniques used in rigs. It also goes into the nuts and bolts of MEL scripting and how to really utilize Maya's potential in that respect.

The Tool Kit is a series of three books and each one is chalk full of little tidbits and goodies for rigging and character setup. I would recommend these books as well.

I hope this helps. Good luck in your quest for knowledge. :-)
