I've been playing with displacement in Modo but seem to be getting ugly splitting on the mesh, the map is 2048 & is the highest quality ZB can output. The original mesh is 4.5 million polys & the Modo render is showing 4.5 million faces. I've rendered many times with different settings but can't seen to lose the lines & splitting or get the really fine details of the ZB model. I think I've tried everything but I'm still not getting the results I want...

Can anyone help???

Is your base mesh subdivision surfaces (tab)?

Is there a command in Zbrush to smoothuvs?

Yup SDS is on & the smooth UV option in ZB is on when the map was generated...

k, What are your high and low values for the displacement map itself? and the displacement distance of the material?

Cheers.

Following on from Phil's suggestion, even small changes in the levels can have a major impact on the model. There might also be an issue with the UV map. Did you generate it in Modo or Zbrush? In Lightwave I've found I get better results if I import an object without UVs into Zbrush, create a Morph target as a backup and generate Grouped UVs from the basic mesh. The UVs are then smoothed for subdivision. First time I tried displacements I had similar problems when I imported an object with UVs into Zbrush. I assumed creating a GUV map in Zbrush would overwrite pre-existing UVs.

You must have seen this on Zbrush Central, but in case you haven't:

Great model by the way. You could bring out the tiny details by adding a Zbrush normal map in Modo.

Hey guys thanks, sorry for the late reply, have not been around for a while, real life got in the way...

I'll play around a bit with UV's, it's not important as this was just a test really...

Good to see you Bob...
