CGTalk - nearest points

hej...

...i'm searching for a script which allows to locate the nearest point (out of a point cloud) from a centerpoint of a polysurface.

would be nice to get some help

you can either use the distance tool from "create>>measure tools", which wouldn't be the wisest idea! lol
or you can simply create a for loop that has an xform command inside to know the exact position of each particle, and calculate the shortest path between the centre and the particle "using http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/2/e/2/2e2f050e0065e30cac6f0bd5df46a1fd.png"
