I saw a demo a while ago where a guy had a ground plane and he assigned a reflection map to it and as he rotated the viewport in real time the reflection would move etc..

I have being trying to get this to happen on my computer but it doesn't work it displays the reflection in the texture but as i tumble the screen they stay static..

I have a firegl2 video card so i can't see that being the problem.

Thanks

could that have been the nvidia cg shaders? or possibly another app?

Nope 100% it was Maya and i am pretty sure it wasn't some funky nvidia shader..

not sure if it is nvidia only but have a try:

-create a sphere and deform it a bit
-create blinn
-assign a envSphere to the reflected color
-assign a texture (file) to the envSphere image
-in the blinn select the reflected color as the hardware display
- finally: in the spheres AE go to:
object display->environment map texture

there you are

works for me with a geforce 2 quadro pro

cheers

I did all of them but the last step, i can see the reflection on the object it just doesn't move around when i tumble the view.

I'll try the last step tomorrow...

was it a demo of the old defunct game realtime player they showed off 2.5 years ago? Maybe RTA?

That WORKS !! great !!

This is a really cool way to check the quality of your surfaces when modeling cars etc...
